Learn more about our Services

Digital Image Capture / Fine Art Photography

Fine Art reproductions begin with a high-resolution digital capture of your original artwork.

Advanced lighting techniques and high-resolution image capture bring out the finest details in your original. This step is essential to a quality giclée print.

We offer this service in our studio or on-site.

Most local artists (we’re in New England) bring their art to our studio. Others who have very large paintings or a larger number of works will hire us to drive to their studio or gallery and photograph their paintings on location.

For artists who are not local or who live out of state, the original art is shipped to the Madison Editions studio.

Image File Preparation for Art Reproduction

We ensure that your digital file yields the most accurate print through expert color correction and image editing.

With decades of experience in color theory and color reproduction, Madison Editions provides this crucial step to guarantee a reproduction true to the original.

Retouching or modifications are available per your request. Some artists request that we remove their signature so they can sign each print individually. Signing each print adds value and shows the buyer that the print has been seen and approved by the artist.

You will receive the finished digital files for your use. We also archive your files so you can reorder prints at any time.

In addition to the digital file, we create and store custom ICC profiles for all devices used in the production process (cameras, monitors, scanners, printers). This ensures consistency in every print run, no matter when they occur.

Proofing

We verify the quality and accuracy of your reproduction before print production begins.

A proportional 11” x 14” proof is made for your approval before we proceed with printing. This will ensure the quality of the image file and the accuracy of our printer. You’ll also be able to verify that all retouching or edits were executed according to your directions.

Full size proofs are available if requested.

You do not have to print your entire edition in one run. Once our extensive proofing process is completed, giclée prints can be produced on an as-needed basis. Your signed off proof will be kept on file to ensure consistency and quality throughout your edition.

Giclée Technology for Fine Art Prints

We capture the tonalities, hues, and luminescence of your artwork with the industries most advanced digital printing technology.

Instead of using screens, this high resolution ink jet technology captures the finest details of your painting by spraying millions of tiny dots imperceptible to the human eye. The result is a flawless print reflecting the nuanced colors, textures, and even metallics of your original.

Our pigment-based inks are fade-resistant and non-water soluble for a reproduction that will last for generations. We print on archival-quality fine art papers, canvas for a museum-worthy product befitting the very definition of fine art.

Film Scanning

We convert your film to high-resolution digital files.

Madison Editions can make high-resolution scans from film ranging from 35 mm to 8x10. Reflective art and photo prints can also be scanned and digitalized.

As photographers ourselves, we understand the importance of handling your film carefully.

Digital files are delivered to you via Dropbox for your immediate download. Originals are promptly returned via the method they were received.
